ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP)
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP), established in 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan, offers about 130 graduate scholarships annually to citizens of ADB developing member countries, including the Philippines. Scholars pursue master's degrees in economics, business & management, science & technology, law & public policy, and development studies at 27 designated institutions across Asia and the Pacific (including 17 in Japan). Benefits include full tuition, monthly subsistence allowance (including housing), books & instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses. Requires returning to the home country for at least 2 years after completion.
Eligibility Requirements
- 1Filipino citizen (national of an ADB borrowing member country)
- 2Must not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
- 3Must have gained admission to an approved master's course at a Designated Institution
- 4Hold a bachelor's degree with superior academic record
- 5At least 2 years of full-time professional work experience (acquired after university degree)
- 6Not more than 35 years old at time of application
- 7Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills
- 8Must agree to return to the Philippines for at least 2 years after completion
