Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship

The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship Programme, funded by the New Zealand Government through Education New Zealand, provides full tertiary scholarships to citizens of eligible Asian countries including the Philippines. Available levels: Postgraduate Certificate (6 months), Postgraduate Diploma (1 year), Master's Degree (1-2 years), and PhD (3.5 years). Benefits include full tuition fees, a weekly living allowance, establishment allowance, return airfare, health insurance, and research & thesis allowance. Scholars must contribute to their country's social or economic development for at least 2 years after completion. Study subjects should align with the Philippines' development priorities (climate change, agriculture, governance, education, health, etc.).

Eligibility Requirements

  • 1Filipino citizen (must hold citizenship of the Philippines)
  • 2Must have resided in the Philippines for 2 years prior to application
  • 3At least 18 years old at time of scholarship offer (preference for applicants under 40)
  • 4For postgraduate: at least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience (paid, unpaid, or voluntary)
  • 5Must meet academic entry and English language requirements (IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 90 for postgrad)
  • 6Must commit to contributing to Philippine social/economic development for 2 years after completion
  • 7Not a previous Manaaki scholar within stand-down period (2 years after completion)
